5 Things to Never say to Someone who Works out
Most of us work really hard to get to where we are, and we don’t always have support along the way. I’m lucky enough to come from an active family that supports my desire to workout and be healthy. Although my mom once said “that’s crazy” to me telling her my goal was to squat my own body weight, she knows that I word really hard and supports me. However, there are times when I’ve had coworkers or sales people at stores make comments about what I’m eating or what size I’m trying on. Here are some of the top 5 most irritating and most common comments I receive about eating healthy and working out.
- “You don’t need to diet, you’re already thin.” I have never been on a diet a day in my life. Just because I choose to eat a salad doesn’t mean I’m on a diet. It means the description on the menu sounded good and I wanted to eat some vegetables.
- “You could stand to eat a cheeseburger.” My response: “You could stand to have my fist in your face. Good day!”
- “It’s easy for you.” Do you really think prioritizing working out, going to bed early, and waking up early is easier for me? It’s exactly the same as it is for you, I just make it a priority! But I have…”xyz.” What you have are excuses, and I don’t want to hear them.
- “You’re going to get too muscle-y.” Hi, I’m Stacy, have we met. I’ve been working out for years and struggle to add muscle mass, especially to my arms. If you don’t like my tiny muscles, go away!
- “You’re already in shape.” Somewhat, because I’ve worked hard 6 days a week for years to get to this point. No one just magically is in shape because they thought about it. Get up and do it and you can be “in shape” too
