Girlfriend Collective High Rise Bike and High Rise Run Shorts Review
I love Girlfriend Collective. I bought my first pair of leggings from them way back when it was “only pay shipping and we’ll send you these leggings”, and honestly I was just hoping I wasn’t being duped out of $20. Well I wasn’t, and I’ve continued to buy from them since then. They have so many products available now beyond their original leggings. BTW you can read some of my previous Girlfriend reviews HERE.
I think they came out with their bike short last year, but I didn’t try them at the time. Earlier this year they sent out an email saying certain colors were back in stock, and when I saw the lime color, I had to have them.
They have both the High Rise Bike shorts and High Rise Run shorts. The Bike shorts have an 8.5″ inseam rise, while the 4.75″ inseam. Both shorts have an 11″ rise.
The shorts are made from their standard recycled water bottle material, which is 79% RPET and 21% spandex. It is definitely a heavier fabric than some other brands, but that’s also what is great about it. The thicker fabric provides a little more structure to it.
Both shorts are very similar to their leggings as far as the cut and waist goes. Really I feel like they are simply their leggings cut into shorts. The fabric is squatproof and I honestly didn’t think that the lime green color showed a ton of sweat either. At least I didn’t think so until I wore them to a spin class where I was sweating a lot more. If you’re worried about sweat showing…buy the black shorts.
High Rise Bike Shorts
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my story where I ran my hands under the faucet then put them on my shorts to see how much it would show up. You can see the hand prints, but that’s not how you sweat, and I was surprised it wasn’t more noticeable. They also dried pretty quickly.
If you’re looking for a longer pair of shorts, I DO quite like these. They didn’t bother me for spin class, however, I wouldn’t wear them for leg day. If you read my previous post about my criteria for the perfect pair of shorts, you know how I feel about shorts with a front seam. I don’t care how long your shorts are, if there’s a front seam, they ride up. If you didn’t read it….go read it HERE.
I didn’t have any issues with the shorts going sheer or issues with them in general (beyond the front seam). The shorts are good, for certain things, if they removed the front seam, and added pockets. I’d give them a 10/10, for now they get a 7/10.
High Rise Run Short Review
These are essentially the same shorts, just shorter. I don’t know why I bought them. Actually, I do…they sent me a $20 off coupon and I figured I’d try them.
They are cute, but they ride up like a b!tch. Seriously, they aren’t nice for spin class, they aren’t nice for leg day, I think the only day I could wear them without hating that decision would be an upper body workout. They might work for a casual day at home, but if you want your shorts to stay put these DO NOT. For that I give them 5/10. They are cute though, so if you only care about looking good, and don’t care if your shorts are as uncomfortable as they can possibly be, go ahead and get them.
